Altera Corporation was an American technology company that produced programmable logic devices (PLDs), software design tools, and intellectual property (IP) cores for a wide range of applications, including data centers, automotive, aerospace and defense, and wired and wireless communications.
Altera was known for its Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs), which are used to create custom digital circuits that can be reprogrammed in the field, enabling flexible and adaptable system design. In 2015, Altera was acquired by Intel Corporation for $16.7 billion, and its products and technologies were integrated into Intel's portfolio of products for the data center and other markets.
