The TIC116M is a silicon controlled rectifier (SCR) designed for high-voltage applications. It has a maximum repetitive peak off-state voltage of 400 volts and a maximum on-state current of 25 amperes. The TIC116M is a non-isolated SCR, meaning that it does not have a built-in isolation barrier between the gate control and the main current-carrying terminals.The TIC116M is commonly used in AC motor control, lighting dimming circuits, power supply regulation, and other high-voltage switching applications. It has a TO-220AB package type with three terminals: anode, cathode, and gate. The gate is used to trigger the SCR into conduction, allowing current to flow from the anode to the cathode.The TIC116M has a low gate trigger current of 10 milliamperes, making it suitable for use with low-power gate drive circuits. It also has a high surge current rating of 200 amperes, allowing it to handle short-duration overloads without damage.
