PCA9535PW General Description
The PCA9535PW is an I2C-bus controlled 16-bit I/O expander optimized for dimming LEDs in 256 discrete steps. Operating with a supply voltage range of 2.3 V to 5.5 V, it provides 5.5 V tolerant I/Os that can be directly connected to and drive LEDs. With 2 address pins, up to 4 devices can share the same I2C bus. Its low standby current consumption of 1 µA (max.) helps conserve power in battery-powered applications. The device features programmable output polarity inversion, allowing flexibility in driving either common-anode or common-cathode LEDs. Each I/O pin can sink up to 25 mA, supporting a variety of LED configurations. Additionally, it offers hardware addressing for cascadability and multiple devices can be controlled by a single I2C master. The PCA9535PW is suitable for various applications such as status indication, keypad scanning, and lighting control in consumer, industrial, and automotive environments
