The PCAL6524HEAZ is a low-voltage translating, non-traditional I2C-bus/SMBus I/O expander designed to provide general-purpose remote I/O expansion via the I2C interface. This device operates at a voltage ranging from 1.8V to 3.6V, making it suitable for low-power applications. It features an active-low interrupt output that can be configured to operate as an input for trigger points and as an output for fault conditions, along with a reset input to restore the device to its default state.The PCAL6524HEAZ has 24 I/O pins that can be configured as open-drain outputs, inputs with internal pull-up resistors, or inputs with external pull-up resistors. This flexibility allows for various configurations to accommodate different system requirements. This device also has programmable features such as polarity inversion, input inversion, and pulse stretching, enabling greater customization of the I/O pins.Additional features of the PCAL6524HEAZ include a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C, a maximum frequency of 400kHz for the I2C interface, and a small package size with a lead-free finish, making it suitable for space-constrained applications.
