FAN7930BMX General Description

IV. The FAN7930BMX is a cutting-edge active power factor correction (PFC) controller designed for boost PFC applications operating in critical conduction mode (CRM). Featuring a voltage-mode PWM, it compares an internal ramp signal with the error amplifier output to generate a MOSFET turn-off signal, distinguishing itself from current-mode CRM PFC controllers. Its elimination of the need for rectified AC line voltage information equates to reduced power loss of an input voltage sensing network. The FAN7930BMX boasts a full suite of protection features, including over-voltage protection, open-feedback protection, over-current protection, input voltage-absent detection, and under-voltage lockout protection, ensuring the utmost safety and reliability of the power supply system. Notably, the controller's OVP pin enables the shutdown of the boost power stage when the output voltage surpasses the OVP level due to damaged resistors connected at the INV pin. Additionally, the FAN7930BMX can be disabled if the INV pin voltage drops below 0.45V, resulting in a significant decrease in the operating current. With its innovative variable on-time control method, this controller delivers lower total harmonic distortion (THD) compared to traditional CRM boost PFC ICs
