Infineon's ICE5AR4770BZS-based auxiliary SMPS for 15W high-efficiency home appliances

With the growing trend of using connected devices in the home, a new generation of home appliances, such as air conditioners, are equipped with advanced features such as wireless control and monitoring capabilities, smart sensors and touch screen displays. These will turn a static product into an interactive smart appliance that can adapt to the smart home theme. 

 

To support this trend, infineon has introduced the latest fifth generation of fixed frequency CoolSETTM to meet this need in an efficient and cost-effective way. An auxiliary SMPS is needed to power the various modules and sensors that typically run from a stable DC voltage source. Infineon CoolSETTM (forms the heart of the system, providing the necessary protection and AC/DC conversion from mains to multiple regulated DC voltages to power the individual blocks. 

 

The ICE5AR4770BZS is the outstanding integrated power level fixed frequency flyback converter on the market. It is suitable for auxiliary power supplies for large home appliances, computers, TVs, servers, and also for players, set-top boxes, LCD/LED displays, etc. The product is optimized for bypass switch mode power supply in cascade configuration with two independent chips inside, one is a controller chip and the other is a 700V/800V mos chip. 

 

The special structure configuration allows for fast start-up, low EMI and good efficiency at light and 50% loads, selectable entry and exit of standby power ABM
enables flexibility in standby mode with small and controlled output voltage ripple and ultra-low power consumption. The product IC power supply operates over a relatively wide range (10.0 ~ 25.5 V) with low power consumption. Numerous protection functions support the power supply system in case of failure. 

 

The EVB is a 15W, AC input flyback SSR isolated structure with infineon's integrated ICE5AR4770BZS, eliminating the need for additional MOSFETs. This structure has a simple, efficient circuit and automatic restart protection to reduce interruptions and improve the end-user experience.
