The TRS3243ECPWR is a 3-V to 5.5-V Multichannel RS-232 Line Driver or Receiver with 115-kV IEC ESD Protection. It is a single-chip and single-supply interface for IBM PC/AT serial port, providing ESD protection for RS-232 bus pins with 115-kV Human-body model (HBM) and 18-kV IEC61000-4-2 Contact discharge, and 115-kV IEC61000-4-2 Air-gap discharge. The device meets or exceeds the requirements of TIA/EIA-232-F and ITU v.28 standards, operates with a 3-V to 5.5-V VCC supply, and is designed to transmit at a data rate up to 500 kbit/s. It features low standby current, always-active noninverting receiver output (ROUT2B), and is designed to be interchangeable with industry standard '3243E devices. The TRS3243ECPWR also includes an auto-powerdown feature to disable driver outputs when no valid RS-232 signal is sensed. Package options for the TRS3243ECPWR include plastic small-outline (DW), shrink small-outline (DB), and thin shrink small-outline (PW).
