The TNY254GN is a low power, off-line switcher IC designed for low power AC/DC power supplies. It is part of the TinySwitch-III family of integrated circuits manufactured by Power Integrations. The TNY254GN features an integrated primary side switch, which eliminates the need for an optocoupler and secondary side regulation components. This simplifies the design of the power supply, reducing component count and cost. The IC operates in a flyback topology and is capable of delivering up to 13 watts of output power. It operates at high efficiency, helping to meet energy efficiency standards such as Energy Star and EN61000. The TNY254GN includes multiple protection features such as over-temperature protection, output overvoltage protection, and output short-circuit protection. These features ensure the reliable operation of the power supply under various fault conditions. The IC is housed in a small SMD package, making it suitable for compact power supply designs. It operates over a wide input voltage range and is capable of operating in ambient temperatures up to 85 degrees Celsius.
