NXP S32K116 & PJF7992 based PEPS Evaluation Board Solution

PEPS (Passive Entry & Passive Start System) is a keyless entry and keyless start system, which is widely used in vehicle access control keyless entry system, vehicle keyless start system, electric motorcycle proximity detection system and other applications, bringing users a new experience of both convenience and comfort.

The main functions of PEPS applications are:

  • PKE (Passive Keyless Entry) passive keyless entry
  • RKE (Remote Keyless Entry) remote keyless entry
  • IMMO (Immobilizer) anti-theft control system

The PEPS evaluation board solution presented in this paper is mainly used to implement IMMO functions. Two development boards are used in this project, the main control board based on NXP S32K116 and the low frequency driver board based on NXP PJF7992. The main control board can drive OLED screen, LED lights, user buttons, and has CAN, LIN and UART connections on board, compatible with two high and low frequency unified interfaces, and supports J-Link debugging. The low frequency driver board is externally connected to an antenna which is both transmitting and receiving antenna. When the key runs out of power, the proximity to the antenna is charged by mutual inductance, which can realize low frequency authentication and thus IMMO function in PEPS application.
