Ansys and Microsoft Collaboration Expands Cloud-based Simulation Solutions

Ansys enhances the availability of cloud-based simulation solutions with Ansys Access deployed on Microsoft Azure.

Ansys is deepening its long-term collaboration with Microsoft to increase the availability of Ansys simulation solutions and tools on the Microsoft Azure cloud computing platform, allowing customers to access them through a browser anytime and anywhere.

Ansys Access on Microsoft Azure will bring additional benefits to Ansys customers, including improved, low-cost cloud-based HPC, providing the required computational scale to address today's highly challenging engineering problems.

The deep collaboration with Microsoft further helps Ansys fulfil its commitment to providing simple, cloud-based advanced simulation solutions in advanced communication, electrification, and sustainability.

Ansys will deepen its long-term strategic partnership with Microsoft by extending cloud access to Ansys simulation solutions and computer-aided engineering (CAE) tools, accelerating virtual product design. Next, Ansys will develop a new product that allows customers to launch Ansys products by logging into their Azure accounts and more easily connecting third-party tools.

Ansys will expand its market strategy with Microsoft as an essential part of this collaboration, including connecting digital twins to the Internet of Things, autonomous driving and flight system development, and using simulation data to train artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) systems. Both companies' customers can increase productivity, lower internal technology costs, and improve virtual collaboration by moving their products to the cloud.

Ansys Access deployed on Microsoft Azure will become a new product offered by Azure Marketplace, providing an alternative to Ansys' current hosted cloud solution, Ansys Cloud Direct, which also runs on Azure.

This new product will allow customers to use their existing Ansys applications and Azure services purchased directly from Microsoft, saving costs, improving data management, and increasing flexibility.

By adding Ansys Access to Ansys' current cloud solutions on Microsoft Azure, customers can choose the most effective method to realize the benefits of cloud-based simulation for their company.

In addition to cloud collaboration, Ansys is committed to integrating Microsoft 365 features into its engineering simulation tool environment to help achieve highly collaborative product design processes.

Shane Emswiler, Senior Vice President of Ansys Products, said: "Ansys Access on Microsoft Azure will improve development and design processes for our customers by increasing productivity, providing clearer workflows, and more convenient access to cloud-based CAE tools. By combining Ansys' industry-leading simulation solutions with Azure, customers can innovate on a large scale in a virtual environment without compromising design accuracy or product integrity."

Kurt Niebuhr, Microsoft's Chief Product Data Management (PDM) Manager, noted: "Our ongoing collaboration with Ansys combines Microsoft Azure's cloud computing capabilities with Ansys' advanced simulation solutions, benefiting virtual design and innovation globally. In an era when digital solutions are more necessary than ever, our collaboration with Ansys helps us provide cloud-based tools to engineers and innovators to meet and exceed their needs."
